John Young grew up in post war Sheffield (The Steel City) in the North East of England and, as most working class boys did, went straight from school into engineering. John spent almost thirty years in the engineering world building a very successful company. Throughout John’s life as an engineer he held a secret passion….ART! John draws inspiration from his life experiences: be it personal or emotional, his desire to explore the world in every possible way, from the opulence of all things Americana to the poverty of the rice fields of Vietnam and, of course, love of music, to create truly unique artworks. With John Young there are no conventional boundaries, if a subject is best portrayed using a photograph then a photograph it is...but if that subject requires acrylic paint to be scraped on the image to complete the effect then that’s fine too.
