THROUGH THE MARGAUX GATES
Size 100 cms. x 150 cms.
Materials; Acrylic Gloss and Photograph on canvas.
Photograph taken by the artist in June 2018 in Bordeaux France.
This work depicts the gates to CHÂTEAU MARGAUX, behind these gates lies a wine lovers paradise, because here one of the world’s most prestigious wines is produced. The estate's best wines are very expensive, with a standard-sized bottle of the Château Margaux grand vin retailing at an average price of $639. (at time of writing) and many vintages retailing at thousands of Euros and one particular ( a Château Margaux 1787 vintage) sold at auction for an eye watering $225,000. Crossing through these gates is virtually impossible except for the most influential of people. The work includes a French tricolour in homage to its location and a Greek flag in recognition of the Château's current owner, Corinne Mentzelopoulos .
